Windram Art was founded in 1995 by Australian artist Ingrid Windram, after she moved to Broome in 1992. It evolved from a passion for the Kimberley, and a desire to express its rugged beauty and vibrant colour, in her original paintings.
Her paintings were viewed not only as brilliant workart, but were also recognised by many, as a wonderful portrayal of the Kimberley, and an enticement for travellers from all over the world to visit this magnificent ancient land known as the Kimberlies.

As the popularity of Broome and the Kimberley quickly grew, so did the demand for Ingrid’s paintings, so much so that she was unable to supply the huge demand, even though she was a full time professional artist working in her Broome Studio in the dry season, and in her Perth Studio during the wet season in the Kimberley.Visitors to the Kimberley would come to our Gallery in Broome seeking prints as well as the originals, consequently some of her work was selected to be reproduced as quality art reproductions. With technological advancements, the ability to reproduce on canvas became available to us, and after much investigation, we were satisfied that the new technology could meet our high standards, for faithful colour reproduction, as well as providing great archival properties.
